The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is a national trade association dedicated to promoting wind power growth through advocacy, communication, and education. Gallagher Consulting provided communications and public affairs consulting expertise to help AWEA and a statewide coalition with efforts to modify the State of Ohio’s tax policy on wind power. Gallagher developed and implemented a strategic communications and media plan for the coalition. This included organizing editorial boards, effectively using social media, and creating collateral materials for lawmakers and Ohio media outlets. Gallagher delivered targeted legislative, grassroots and coalition communications to support AWEA’s government relations team/lobbyists and provided ongoing strategic public affairs counsel.  

Result

The effort resulted in a favorable change to Ohio’s tax code which opened the doors to wind energy companies who are investing millions to develop facilities and jobs in Ohio.
