The American Public Gardens Association (APGA) is the leading professional organization for the field of public horticulture. Its members include more than 585 institutions, spanning all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, and 24 countries. Gallagher Consulting Group spearheaded research and planning efforts for APGA. This included directing all aspects of a multi-year strategic planning initiative that included research and customized planning retreats for the 19-member board of directors and executive staff. The planning effort encompassed primary research and personal interviews with APGA stakeholders. i.e., board members, staff, donors, members, peers, industry experts. Gallagher authored the written strategic plan and suggested implementation for the organization.
APGA has used its strategic plan to implement bold, successful initiatives for the organization including increased membership, a robust sponsorship program, and the enhancement of member programs.
